New Work with SLAAIT

Since January, I’ve been working on the State Libraries and AI Technology (SLAAIT) working group at the University of Texas Austin’s iSchool. As the working group’s AI Policy Researcher, I’ve had the opportunity to continue research on corrosive AI, while learning more about how libraries can help combat AI-related issues.

The SLAAIT Working Group is a joint project of 14 state libraries to understand the opportunities, challenges, and risks associated with AI and the library sector. Through these partnerships, we can better understand the challenges that AI has created for libraries, while also identifying areas where libraries can benefit from AI. SLAAIT publishes briefings on AI topics, and creates training resources to help our state library partners understand how they can utilize AI tools. We’re also currently developing an “AI Petting Zoo” that will allow us and our partners to get hands-on experience with the paid tier of AI tools.
